The Craven County Board of Education completed routine business with unanimous votes on a series of procedural items.
The board adopted the meeting agenda by voice vote, carried unanimously 6-0. It approved minutes for Dec. 1, Dec. 10, Dec. 16 and Dec. 18, and separately approved closed-session minutes for those same dates; both motions passed unanimously. The consent agenda — which included two out-of-county field trips (Grover and Havelock Elementary) and nine policies moving forward from first reading (policy numbers as presented) — was approved unanimously.
The board voted to enter closed session under North Carolina General Statutes (citation read during the meeting) to consult with legal counsel and discuss personnel qualifications; after reconvening, the board reported no action taken in closed session. Dr. Boone presented Human Resources addendum 7A (personnel report for January 2026), the board moved to approve it, and the motion carried unanimously.
Motions and outcomes recorded in the meeting: agenda adoption (6-0), approval of open and closed minutes for listed dates (6-0), consent agenda approval (6-0), entry into and return from closed session (vote recorded to enter), and approval of personnel report addendum 7A (6-0). The meeting then adjourned by unanimous consent.
