District staff presented a first read of Policy 26.1, a policy adjustment to permit the availability and distribution of Narcan and other opioid antagonists at Southgate Community School District sites.
Staff said the policy package had previously gone through the district policy committee and that the current presentation was a first reading; if the board has questions staff asked that they reach out before the next meeting. The presentation noted that policy requirements accompany making opioid antagonists available on school campuses and that implementation details will be brought back for board approval or modification.
No formal vote was taken on the policy at this meeting. Staff said the item will return on a future agenda for formal consideration.
