The Tallmadge City Council reviewed and adopted its 2026 meeting calendar at the Jan. 12 organizational meeting, approving dates and several specific adjustments.
The proposed schedule establishes the council's regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. Council members discussed whether to revert future meetings to Thursdays for administrative convenience, noting that changing the regular meeting day would require amendments to the codified council rules and subsequent ordinance action.
For the immediate calendar, the council agreed to move the May meeting scheduled for May 25 to Thursday, May 28, and to exclude November 23 and December 28 from the year’s meeting dates. Members also discussed keeping a traditional summer meeting in late July (tentatively July 27) and preserving spring break as a no-meeting week. The clerk and legal office were identified as resources to coordinate any future ordinance required to change meeting days.
A motion to accept the 2026 calendar with the May 25→May 28 change and the holiday-week exclusions passed by roll call; the clerk recorded the vote as 6 to 0. Council then adjourned the organizational meeting.
