Jessica Epstein was elected president of the Tallmadge City Council and Dave Klein was chosen as vice president during the council's organizational meeting on Jan. 12.
Council members opened nominations for president and, after no further nominations, closed nominations and held a roll-call vote that the clerk recorded as a 6-to-0 vote in favor of Jessica Epstein. The outgoing chair formally relinquished the gavel to the newly elected president. Epstein thanked colleagues for the nomination and said she looked forward to working with the full council during the term (remarks recorded during the chair transition).
Nominations for vice president followed; Dave Klein was nominated and confirmed by roll call, also by a reported 6-to-0 vote. Both elections were conducted in accordance with council procedures discussed during the meeting and with a roll-call vote consistent with council rule 16, as announced by the clerk.
Following the leadership votes, the new leadership announced committee assignments for the council year, including Planning & Zoning (Chair: Ted Roy; Vice Chair: Lindsay Holm) and Finance (Chair: Dave Klein; Vice Chair: Don Pavlik). Other committee leadership was also named.
The council's leadership elections concluded with formal roll-call tallies and the chair transition that opened the remainder of the organizational meeting.
