Paulding libraries unveil 24/7 pickup lockers after digital connectivity grant

Library and system staff told the Board of Commissioners that a digital connectivity grant allowed installation of library locker pickup units to expand access to library materials outside normal hours.
Christie Green, director of the West Georgia Regional Library System, told commissioners the system serves 19 libraries across five counties and that Paulding County now hosts locker locations, including at the Paulding Senior Center and Crossroads Library. Justin Nobles, assistant director for IT, said the system has installed nine lockers across the regional system and five lockers were placed to serve Paulding County patrons; items placed on hold in the Pines catalog can be routed to a chosen locker, loaded remotely and retrieved 24/7 by card scan.
Library staff said the lockers were purchased through a digital connectivity grant and were chosen for locations with high foot traffic to reach residents who otherwise have limited access. Commissioners thanked the presenters and asked staff to return with additional information when the video demonstration equipment is fixed.
What’s next: Library staff provided a website for details (wgrls.org/librarylocker) and said a second locker at Crossroads Library would improve access on the north side of the county.
