Planning commission approves MMC training center site plan

The Madison County Planning & Zoning Commission approved a site-plan for a new MMC training facility during the same meeting. Jason Buckley of JBHM Architects described the project as a roughly 9,000-square-foot training building with about 50 seats, a pull-through garage to accommodate training simulators, disturbance of approximately 4.8 acres and about 41 parking spaces.
Buckley said the project is an expansion east of MMC’s existing concrete plant and grew from prior master planning work his firm conducted. Commissioners moved and seconded the site-plan approval and approved it by voice vote during the meeting.
The approval allows the developer to proceed with detailed permitting and construction planning subject to any standard permitting requirements; no conditions beyond standard site-plan review were recorded in the transcript.
The board set its next planning meeting for Jan. 8 and adjourned shortly after the site-plan vote.
