Hampden boards weigh building repairs, energy storage sign‑off and a plan to repurpose Old Town Hall

Presiding official said he had been told by an Amaresco representative that 'the battery issue has been solved and is completely up and running at this point,' and town inspector staff reported receipt of comprehensive construction control documents and UL testing records that are under final review. Inspector Courtney is reviewing documentation to ensure UL and fire‑protection guidelines are satisfied before final sign‑off.
On the municipal building renovation, the fire chief and other staff reported delay on the owner’s project manager (OPM) contract: 'the town has been waiting 8 weeks on that one,' said a department representative. Board members said the original contract draft did not favor the town and that town counsel and staff had revised it to better protect town interests; staff will move the revised designer/architect contract through the review chain once the OPM contract is finalized.
The board also discussed repurposing the old town hall and vetted a list of interested residents for a committee. Members suggested a committee size of roughly 7–9 people, agreed to invite interested parties to the Select Board meeting next Tuesday at 7 p.m. and planned a public hearing for Bayberry Colony related items at the same meeting.
