City staff reports closeout of $80,000 home-repair grant; eight households assisted
Summary
City staff reported that Nevada received an $80,000 award from the Story County Housing Trust Fund for a major home-improvement grant program, used nearly $68,000 to assist eight households (meeting income eligibility of 80% of county median), and the program has expired for 2025.

Brenda, who served as project adviser, presented the closeout for the city's major home-improvement grant program funded by the Story County Housing Trust Fund.
She said the city was awarded $80,000 in 2024 from the Story County Housing Trust Fund to support safety- and stability-focused home repairs and that one of the eligibility requirements was household income at or below 80% of Story County median income for household size (SEG 377–386, 388–392). Brenda reported the program assisted eight households — meeting the council’s stated goal — and that the city awarded nearly $68,000 of the $80,000 award before the funds expired; the city had requested and received a one-year extension previously (SEG 396–406).
Brenda summarized the types of work funded, including structural improvements, handicap-accessibility deck repairs, plumbing, electrical and water heaters, and emphasized confidentiality for beneficiary information. She suggested the council consider reapplying in future funding cycles; the trust fund is available once per year (SEG 436–446, SEG 416–418). Council members thanked Brenda and staff for administering the program.
No formal council action was required beyond receiving the closeout and noting the option to apply again for trust-fund support.
