Camelot Theatre Foundation reports rising activity, completed apartments and plans for improvements

Audra Padaruca, a board member of the Camelot Theatre Foundation, briefed the council on the nonprofit’s progress and plans to keep the downtown theater active and self-sustaining.
"We are a nonprofit organization that was formed in early 2022 to revitalize and maintain the Camelot Theatre as a financially self sustaining community arts, education, entertainment, and meeting space," Padaruca said (SEG 248–251). She reported the foundation completed the second- and third-floor apartments and has the units currently rented; the work involved volunteers and local contractor support (SEG 262–269). The foundation hosted about 75 events in 2025, including concerts, films, youth theater productions and community activities, and it partners with downtown businesses to boost local commerce (SEG 278–336).
Padaruca told council the foundation plans further building improvements, continued volunteer recruitment and pursuit of grants to expand backstage and green-room facilities; she asked council members and residents to attend events and support downtown participation (SEG 344–356). The council thanked the presenter for continued efforts to bring events and visitors to downtown Nevada.
No council action was required beyond receiving the report; staff noted the foundation’s role in downtown vitality and its use as a community event space.
