Vice Chair Rogers described the district's plan to form a legislative steering committee to help shape the district's legislative agenda for the Durham delegation and to make stakeholder outreach more systematic. The committee is expected to include 13 to 15 members across categories including principals, PTA representatives, teachers, support staff, students and community members.

To select representatives, the board used a randomized wheel process to seat nominees from each category and read appointments into the record; alternates were identified for most slots. After the selections, a board member moved to appoint the committee members and alternates as determined by the wheel; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor unanimously.

The board also discussed extending a slot to the Durham Chamber of Commerce and appointed a chamber representative after the meeting received confirmation.
