Resident urges council to require moving Pulte retention pond over groundwater concerns

During public comment, Bill Koss of 15420 Copper Beach Lane asked the council to require Pulte to move a planned north retention pond to the east side of their property, saying the pond is within about 200 feet of neighboring wells and that retention ponds can harbor algae and bacteria and be treated with chemicals that could leach into the aquifer supplying private wells.
Koss said he previously owned and knows the lay of the land and urged the council to carefully scrutinize future developments by Pulte. Mayor and staff urged Koss to contact the Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s groundwater section for technical review; no city staff or developer technical rebuttal was recorded in the meeting.
