City hears introduction of Westfield Washington Schools PUD amendment to adopt landscaping plan for new middle school

Ryan Collingwood, community development staff, introduced Ordinance 26-02, the first amendment to the Westfield Washington Schools planned unit development. The amendment adds approximately 97 acres north of State Road 32 near Centennial Road, incorporates a newly adopted landscape plan as the controlling exhibit for site landscaping, and updates the concept plan as site work has progressed.
Jack Whitsett, attorney with Church Church Hittle & Antrim, and representatives for Westfield Washington Schools (including Brian Kelly) were present to introduce the amendment. Whitsett said the school corporation is completing a new Centennial Middle School on its West Campus and that the updated landscaping plan should be incorporated into the original PUD. Staff said the item is an introduction and will proceed to a public hearing on Wednesday.
