John Chadwick, a Geneva resident who identified his address as 702 North Broadway, told the council that several streetlights at a nearby intersection have been out for months and urged the city to address the outages because the corner has had many traffic accidents. Councilmembers confirmed the outages had been reported to the appropriate parties and said staff will follow up to find out why repairs have not been completed.
During unfinished business the council also discussed revisiting a previously considered ordinance to ban outdoor wood-burning furnaces. One councilmember said any ban should be "grandfathered for anybody that has one" while prohibiting new installations; staff (Mr. Casquale was named for follow-up) was asked to look for the ordinance language and report back.
No formal action was taken on the furnace discussion at the meeting; council asked staff to assist with locating or drafting the ordinance for a future meeting.
