Board approves minutes, honors outgoing councilman and moves to closed session

At its Jan. 7 meeting the West Windsor Planning Board approved minutes with a minor amendment, heard public comments thanking retiring Councilman Martin Whitfield for community service, approved a correction to a resolution page name listing, and voted to enter closed session to discuss pending litigation.
The West Windsor Planning Board approved the minutes of its Dec. 17, 2025 meeting with a minor amendment noted to staff. Simon moved to approve the minutes and Mayor Marte seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
During public comment (heard early in the meeting), a community speaker thanked Martin Whitfield for his years of service to the township, citing his work with WACC and prior school-board service. The speaker said Whitfield had chosen not to run because of family responsibilities; Whitfield responded, "Thank you so very much, man," and accepted the thanks.
During the discussion of Resolution PB25-09 staff and board members also noted a requested correction to page 8 of the resolution: strike the name John Taylor and replace it with Anas Big; staff acknowledged the change and confirmed the listing would be updated.
Later in the meeting Alan moved that the board go into closed session "for the purpose of discussion, pending litigation." The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board then prepared to leave public session for the closed session.
No additional votes or public actions were recorded in the public portion after the motion to enter closed session.
