Residents urge caution on rapid redevelopment, request more leaf pickup and sewer clearing

Laura Frisch of 5830 Crane Street asked the village to consider another leaf-collection pickup after residents missed a prior pickup and cited mold-prone wet leaves, street salt and oil in collected piles. "I feel like we really need another pickup," Frisch said, warning that accumulated leaves were clogging sewers and contributing to localized flooding and could attract rodents. She said she had sent photos to public works and asked for clearer notification of collection schedules.
Kevin Jernentin said the pace and character of redevelopment risked erasing Morton Grove’s character, describing concerns about density and street litter associated with nearby construction. Carlos Gonzales echoed the need to preserve green space, saying it was a key reason families move to the area and urging resident engagement on planning. Dave Jeanette, a lifelong resident, criticized a proposal to demolish an 1896 school building and said losing that structure would be "disgraceful," urging preservation of local history.
Village staff responded that many development details remained rumors and that public meetings would be scheduled; staff also acknowledged receipt of Ms. Frisch’s photos and said the village would take her concerns under consideration.
