The Committee on Strategic Planning and Budget voted to advance the cohort 8 Green Schoolyard project with $1,500,000 to be taken from Fund 46. Director Herndon moved the motion; the secretary called the roll and eight directors voted aye (Ferguson, Herndon, Jackson, Reza, Simpson, Vanoy, Zombor and Chair O'Halloran). The motion passed.
Administration said the green schoolyard work is partially grant funded and relies on district matching and fundraising; the approved amount is intended to keep the next cohort on schedule so children will have playground and green‑space upgrades by the coming school year. Administration noted it will finalize which five schools advance in the cohort and report back with implementation details.
The approval was the only formal funding action taken during the meeting; larger proposed investments and any possible future closure recommendations remain subject to further board review and community engagement.
