Natalie Aguilar, a community educator with Universidad Popular, briefed the San Marcos City Council on three community programs during oral communications.
Aguilar said the community pantry continues to serve increasing numbers of residents and requested donations of dry beans, rice, salt, oil, flour and Maseca. She outlined the organization's civics program schedule — citizenship classes are held Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at San Marcos Elementary (1 Tiger Way) with a graduation planned for Nov. 13, 2026 — and announced that Universidad Popular will host its fourth annual Cesar Chavez Day of Service on March 27, 2026 in partnership with Cal State San Marcos, Palomar College and MiraCosta College and local partners.
Aguilar asked the community to save the dates and to support pantry donations as needs for food, housing and transportation persist among elders and agricultural workers.
