St. Charles North girls swim and dive team honored at Jan. 12 board meeting

Superintendent Dr. Gordon invited coach Rob Rooney and Joe Benoit to the meeting to celebrate the team's results, including conference and sectional championships, multiple individual state champions, a state relay championship and a second-place finish at the IHSA state finals.
Coach Rob Rooney, who said he has led teams before the board for 26 years, thanked supporters and introduced senior captain Kate Farrell, who summarized the team's accomplishments: "We concluded the season with 10 state qualifiers, six All-Americans, four state titles, and a runner-up finish," she told the board. Students and coaching staff were recognized and given medals. District leaders praised the team's humility and teamwork.
The recognition was presented early in the meeting as part of the superintendent's report; no board action was required.
