Initial Scott Park designs spark six-month planning warning from parks staff

Parks staff updated the Franklin City Park Board on Jan. 15 about Scott Park planning, saying the initial architectural meeting produced designs that staff consider more elaborate than appropriate for the project budget.
Speaker 2 said the first meeting produced building concepts for ball diamonds, a maintenance facility and a center building that were "nicer than the active adult center" and warned that the design process could take at least six months as staff works to bring concepts in line with budget constraints. "It doesn't do us any good if we come back... and it comes back to be $30,000,000, which is not ever gonna happen," Speaker 2 said, urging a realistic design approach.
Staff said they will continue meetings over the coming months and provide progress updates to the board as designs are refined and costs are clarified. No funding or construction approvals were requested at this meeting.
