Residents raise trash pickup, street grading and school water concerns during Pico Rivera public comment

The mayor asked the City Manager to have staff follow up and requested that Public Works contact the contracted trash vendor. Vivian Kelly returned to the council to report the street sweeper repeatedly missing her gutter and requested that 6440–6446 Kelton View Drive be regraded to improve drainage; she said she has been monitoring the sweeper on Thursday mornings and asked whether regrading is in this year’s budget. Public Works said the curb-and-gutter uplift is part of the sidewalk project and staff will follow up with her about the schedule.
Victor Gonzalez raised concerns about water quality at Rancho High School, saying he observed discolored (yellow) water from student fountains and alleged students drink from corroded faucets while administrators receive bottled water. He asked the community to attend the school board meeting and urged the city to help identify resources and donations; the mayor clarified that Pico Water District supplies school sites and staff said the city will communicate with the school district where appropriate.
Cesar Luna spoke about establishing a Pico Rivera Kiwanis club and described recent Kiwanis outreach events. Lauren Talbot, the community library manager, provided library programming and alerted the public to restroom refurbishment at Rivera Library that will make restrooms ADA-compliant.
City staff recorded two written public comments for the record, asking for a resolution regarding 1947–1949 Washington Boulevard and reporting homeless vehicles parked at a commercial lot; staff were asked to look into those matters and respond as appropriate.
