Dr. Jaren Fried, superintendent of the Anaheim Union High School District, invited families, students, staff and community members to take part in drafting the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and announced a kickoff meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 22 (year not specified) at the district office.
Fried said the LCAP —is more than a budget document. It is a blueprint for student success,— and tied every goal and spending decision to the district's mission, vision and core values.
The superintendent emphasized that the plan provides local control, saying it —gives us the ability to make decisions that meet the unique needs of our students and our schools,— with the stated aim of supporting students to graduate college-, career- and life-ready.
Fried described the public engagement process as collaborative rather than a presentation of a finished plan: —Our educational partner engagement meetings are about partnership, not just planning,— and he urged participants to offer feedback on what is working and where the district should grow.
He said the kickoff will be a community celebration with food and student performances, followed by an overview of the LCAP process, and that the event will launch a series of five sessions designed to bring students, staff, parents and families together.
The superintendent closed by reiterating the importance of community participation and thanking attendees: —I hope to see you there. Thank you for being an essential part of AUHSD.—
