Signal modernization (25-0988): The committee approved a resolution authorizing a phase 2 engineering supplement with Kimberly Horn & Associates in a not-to-exceed amount of $42,829 and the appropriation of $42,829 in MFT (motor fuel tax) funds for the Indian Trail (Ohio to Pennsbury) signal modernization project. Staff said the supplement covers temporary traffic-signal design that was not included in the original scope. The motion carried 5-0.
Neighborhood cleanup (26-0015): The committee approved authorization for the 2026 Ward Neighborhood Cleanup and shred events in all wards (annual program). Motion carried 5-0.
Police grants: The committee accepted two grants for police-related programs. Item 25-0959 is a $24,000 award from the Illinois Attorney General’s organized retail crime grant program; staff said the award is split $12,000 for officer overtime for retail enforcement details and $12,000 earmarked for a security trailer (a towable trailer with mast and cameras). The trailer’s anticipated cost is between $30,000 and $35,000; staff said the department will use asset forfeiture funds (already budgeted) to cover amounts beyond the $12,000 equipment earmark. Item 25-0960 is a $17,736 FY26 Illinois Department of Transportation State and Community Highway Safety grant focused on bicycle and pedestrian safety; that award is for overtime reimbursement for enforcement and outreach. Both grant acceptances passed 5-0.
