Planning Commission elects Roy Reed chair, names Cooney vice chair and cancels Feb. 4 hearing

At its Jan. 14 meeting the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission elected Roy Reed as chair and Commissioner Cooney as vice chair by unanimous votes, appointed staff secretaries and voted to cancel the Feb. 4 hearing; the panel also continued the Recreation Master Plan workshop to Feb. 11.
The Santa Barbara County Planning Commission held a brief round of procedural business at the start of its Jan. 14 meeting.
Outgoing Chair Kate Ford nominated Roy Reed for chair; the commission seconded and approved the nomination by a 4–0 roll‑call vote (Commissioners Cooney, Park, Reid and Ford voting aye). Commissioner Reid then presided while the commission nominated Commissioner Cooney for vice chair; that appointment also passed 4–0.
The commission appointed Jeff Wilson and Mr. Villalobos as planning commission secretary and recording secretary, respectively, by unanimous vote. Commissioners then voted to cancel the Feb. 4 hearing because no items were projected for that date.
The commission took no final action on the Recreation Master Plan workshop during the procedural session; after several hours of staff presentations and public comment, it continued the workshop to Feb. 11 to allow commissioners to provide direction on EIR scope and key policy parameters.
The meeting record reflects routine roll calls for the appointments; staff will record the changes in the minutes and update public materials.
