Council unanimously extends task force deadline and refers two items to committees

The St. Petersburg City Council on Jan. 15 recorded several unanimous procedural actions. The council approved a resolution extending the Advanced Air Mobility Task Force’s deadline to Feb. 28, 2026. The clerk announced the motion passed unanimously with Council Member Gina Driscoll absent.
In new business, the council referred the purpose and role of the City Beautiful Commission to the Committee of the Whole (or another relevant committee) for discussion and possible recommendations on commission duties and reporting. Separately, council referred a review to the Public Safety & Infrastructure (PSI) committee on the city’s practice and code application related to historic granite curbs and hexagon ("hex‑block") sidewalks, asking staff to clarify how building regulations and land‑development regulations are being applied and whether alternatives such as stamped concrete are acceptable in non‑historic districts.
All three items were moved, seconded and recorded as passing unanimously during the Jan. 15 meeting. No ordinances were adopted; the referrals direct staff and committees to return with recommendations.
