Personnel commission approves reclassification for early-learning assistant; routine items cleared

The Ocean View School District personnel commission approved a staff-recommended reclassification for an early learning instructional assistant position and completed routine business during a brief meeting that included a short public comment and commissioner reports.

Staff told the commission the reclassification followed a position study and was recommended as an appropriate adjustment. "We came to the determination that a reclassification was appropriate, and we're recommending that to the commission for today," the presenter said. The commission had no questions and approved the recommendation by voice vote, recorded as 3-0.

The vote capped a short agenda that also included approval of the regular meeting minutes and the consent calendar. A motion to approve the minutes was moved, seconded and approved; the consent calendar (one item) similarly passed by a 3-0 voice vote. The meeting adjourned shortly afterward.

During public comment, Elizabeth Carr, who identified herself as "department secretary special ed," offered a brief remark of support for the local team: "I'm just gonna say, I would like to tell everyone go Rams." Commissioners offered brief reports thanking staff for employee recognition events and noting that the next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12. District leaders said they are planning a spring job fair, likely in April or May, though a date has not yet been set.

The meeting was called to order at about 4:30 and adjourned at 4:37.
