The steering committee approved the minutes from the November 12 meeting after a motion and second. Sharon McCafferty moved to approve the minutes as amended (SEG 130) and Kathy Peterson seconded (SEG 131); members answered 'Aye' and the minutes were accepted.
Members discussed meeting scheduling and agreed to put walkabout planning and budget review on the March agenda. Because city finance has staffing shortages, staff said an updated FY25-26 budget is not yet available and the committee will revisit budget items when the finance office provides amended numbers.
Newsletter assignments were finalized for the upcoming issue: Leilani will contribute a wildlife corner, Rusty Weaver will write 'Lakeside Perspectives,' Grant will handle a 'Habitat at Home' piece, and Scott will do an annual report summary. Members also discussed using photos (including future drone imagery) and wildlife identification to boost engagement.
The committee confirmed the next meeting will be March 4 and adjourned at the end of the session.
