The Hutchinson City Council approved a multi-item consent agenda and several new-business licensing items on Jan. 13. The consent agenda included routine 2026 license renewals; resolutions disclosing surplus police property; designation of the official newspaper; depository designations for city funds; the appointment of Matthew Jani as city administrator for 2026 (resolution listed in the packet); and various committee and commission representative assignments. The council approved the consent agenda in one motion.
Among specific event and license items noted on the consent agenda were a short-term gambling license for the Crow River Cutters on Feb. 7 at the McLeod County Fairgrounds and the purchase of a Public Works Bobcat Toolcat utility vehicle. In new business, the council approved a tobacco license for Veil LLC d/b/a Hutchinson 1 Stop at 1201 Main Street North after staff said a background check cleared the applicant. The council also approved a temporary on-sale liquor license for a Chamber of Commerce event on Jan. 30.
Council members set the city-administrator annual performance-review meeting for Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.; staff (Kelly) will distribute questionnaires to council members to collect evaluations. All motions on these items were adopted by voice vote as recorded in the meeting transcript.
