The Rockingham County Board of Commissioners approved several human‑resources and employee wellness items Jan. 15.
Commissioners adopted a parental medical appointment leave policy (Chapter 9‑9A), effective Jan. 1, 2026, providing 25 hours of leave in the first 12 months of a child's life for medical appointments, and aligning the policy with legislative changes. The board also approved a revised fitness center waiver and release of liability; staff described planned training protocols for the new gym equipment and proposed requiring new users to complete training and sign the release before using the facility.
The board authorized the purchase of antibacterial wipes and dispensers for the municipal building fitness center using county wellness funds, and approved a heart‑health awareness campaign and raffle using Cigna wellness dollars not to exceed $250. Commissioners also approved a personnel exception request for a registry of deeds employee and a leave extension for a registry of deeds employee with county benefits continuing through Jan. 30, 2026.
All items were seconded and approved during the human resources portion of the meeting.
