At its Jan. 13 meeting the North Middlesex Regional School Committee approved multiple routine and governance items.
Trip and donation approvals - The committee approved the NMRHS baseball preseason trip to Cape Cod (March 27–29, 2026). The trip will include about 20 students, 3 coaches, school minibus and supplemental vehicles; medical supervision arrangements were described. - The committee voted to accept a donation of approximately 30,000 menstrual products (tampons and pads) obtained via a state grant and distributed through the group Free Period; district nurse Catherine Hampson said the retail equivalent would be roughly $12,000–$15,000.
Appointments and procurement planning - The committee agreed to convene a small review panel for the forthcoming food service RFP; Lisa Martin was appointed to serve on the food services review team. - The committee appointed Jackie White to the ADA self-evaluation RFP review team; the district previously accepted a $60,000 grant to fund that self-evaluation and bids were due Jan. 20.
Governance and policy - The committee voted to adopt a new governance guide establishing norms for public meetings, professional conduct, cameras expected for virtual meetings (with allowance for technical issues), and a communication protocol encouraging requests to be routed through the superintendent and chair where feasible. - The committee approved for adoption several policies and advanced others to first reading, including student activity accounts and policies on student complaints, cell phone/portable device use and co-curricular activities; one large fundraising-related policy change was noted as forthcoming because of new state law.
Next steps - Administration was asked to circulate final copies of appointed-RFP materials and policy language between readings, and to publish the governance guide and adopted policies with meeting minutes.
