Speaker 5 (Unidentified committee member) said visits to Canaan revealed a loss of CTE programming and described a follow-up meeting in which St. Johnsbury Academy and Linden Institute immediately proposed ideas to act as satellite partners and restore capacity. “They told their story…Saint Johnsbury Academy and Linden Institute instantly said, we have so many ideas to help you solve this problem,” Speaker 5 said.
Committee members used the example to argue for more peer collaboration and for the Agency of Education to facilitate practical, locally led solutions rather than only top-down mandates. Speaker 5 said the example demonstrated that bringing districts together and convening peers can produce timely, actionable options for CTE without waiting for centralized programs.
Members agreed to include CTE updates on upcoming agendas and to invite stakeholders to explain commissioned reports and program proposals in future hearings.
