At its January meeting the Cocoa Beach City Commission and CRA approved a number of routine and budgeted items by unanimous votes:
- CRA approved a $25,000 commercial visual improvement grant for Slow and Low Barbecue (306 N Orlando Ave) to assist a parking‑lot repaving project; staff said total repaving is estimated at about $60,000 and the CRA grant is budgeted to help offset costs.
- CRA renewed the lease between the CRA and Cocoa Beach Main Street for office space in the parking garage at 25 S Orlando Ave; recommendation to approve was adopted 5‑0.
- The commission adopted the consent agenda (including approval of the 12/04/2025 meeting minutes and adoption of the Brevard County multi‑jurisdictional local mitigation strategy) on a 5‑0 vote.
- On second reading the commission adopted Ordinance 17‑07 to merge the Sustainable Land Advisory Committee with the Planning Board; the ordinance passed on roll call with all commissioners voting 'Aye.'
- Capital and budgeted capital items approved included: Automated Logic contract for HVAC controls upgrades at the Cocoa Beach Country Club ($79,360); dune crossover contracts for South 7th Street and Flagler Lane; and several other budgeted capital projects. Commissioners asked about expected energy savings from the HVAC upgrade (vendor estimated 5–10% savings) and potential grant opportunities for dune crossover work.
These items were presented as budgeted staff recommendations and carried on unanimous votes or voice vote as noted.
