ACSD 1 adopts purchase and entrance policies, advances salary and workday policies

At its January business meeting the Albany County School District #1 Board of Trustees voted on a package of personnel and procurement policies.

Trustees approved policy 2004 (purchase and supply) after confirming a correction to reflect the third reading. The policy clarifies that orders of $25,000 or less may be purchased from local suppliers. The board also approved policy 4001 (entrance requirements) on third reading; staff said the changes remove redundancies and contradictions in the policy.

Trustees approved policy 5005 (certified employee salary) on second reading after staff reported the policy had been shared with Meet and Confer and no changes were requested. The board took the first reading of policy 5019 (classified employee workday requirements). Trustee Janice Marshall asked about language relating to duty-free lunch for classified employees, noting concern that staff often do not receive a 30-minute duty-free lunch. Policy guidance from staff clarified that classified employees who cannot be given a duty-free lunch would remain clocked in and be compensated under the policy.
