The Planning Commission reviewed a site-plan amendment request from Stoddard's Market and Catering on Nov. 12 for a roughly 930-square-foot addition at 205 East Cottage Grove Road. Architect Patrick Egan, representing owner Jerry Stoddard, described plans to relocate an existing meat locker to a new outdoor cooler, move the catering kitchen adjacent to the cooler, and create two rear parking stalls for catering trucks.
Egan said the addition would be a premanufactured stainless-steel or aluminum cooler located at the northwest corner of the building with a loading entrance off East Oak Street; the relocation is intended to improve operational efficiency and move catering loading/unloading to the rear. The representative said the work would not change drainage patterns and that the addition would not increase stormwater runoff because it sits on already paved surfaces.
Staff reported Fire/EMS and village engineering reviewed the concept and had no comments; staff recommended approval of the concept with no conditions. The commission asked about potential noise from refrigeration equipment; the architect responded that the noise level would be similar to existing equipment and that overall operations would not change.
Next steps: the applicant will complete state submittals and permits for construction and return with any additional technical details as required.
