At its Jan. 13, 2026 meeting, the Scott County Council recorded the following formal actions and outcomes:
- Election of officers: JR Ward was nominated and approved as council president (motion by John Collins, seconded by Miller). Vote: 6–0. James Ritchie was nominated and approved as vice president (motion recorded; vote: 6–0).
- Agenda amendment: Motion by Miller, seconded by Collins, to add 'Casa' to the agenda for a funding request. Approved 6–0.
- Transfer/Resolution (IT): Transfer of $1,867.59 to cover Cushing system software charges (motion by Collins, second by Leslie). Approved 6–0.
- Budget transfer/resolution for a custodial contract/fire extinguisher expense (~$15): Motion by Miller, second by Cheatham. Approved 6–0.
- Board appointments: Multiple board and committee appointments were approved by unanimous voice vote (6–0), including Hank Connor to the Alcohol Beverage Commission and other committee assignments.
- Minutes: Motion by John Collins to approve the minutes (second by John Miller). Approved 6–0.
Many larger additional appropriations (for departmental budgets and the prosecutor's upcoming Axon contract) were discussed and will be formally advertised and brought back for vote at the February meeting in compliance with Gateway/DLGF notice requirements.
