Marshall County BZA elects officers, approves minutes and delays findings of fact

The Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals reorganized its leadership and handled routine business at its Jan. 13 meeting, electing officers and approving prior meeting minutes.

A member nominated Trent Bennett for board president; the nomination was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. The board then elected Larry Hoey as vice president by acclamation after a brief discussion in which one member said they were not interested in the post. Members also elected Nunemaker as secretary following a motion, a second and a voice vote that included one recorded "nay." The chair and members confirmed those results before moving to routine business.

The board approved executive session minutes from Dec. 8 and regular meeting minutes from Dec. 9 after confirming the correct mover and seconder in the draft. Members noted errors in the Dec. 16 special business minutes: an alternate (Brandon Calhoun) had been marked present when he was not, and members asked staff to correct the attendance record. Staff said findings of fact were not available because of network issues and the board agreed to address December findings at the next meeting.

There were technical difficulties noted with presentation materials early in the meeting; the board asked staff to correct minute records where attendance was misattributed.

With no further business, members discussed potential petitions for the next month and then moved to adjourn.
