Following its decision on 160 Eastern Ave, the Malden Planning Board took routine actions on several planning items.
The board endorsed an Approval‑Not‑Required plan for portions of Hospital Road and Savin Street, which the Department of Public Works had already signed; staff advised that all lots would retain frontage and the plan met statutory criteria, and the board approved and endorsed the plan by voice vote.
The board also approved an ANR plan to merge 7173 Emerald Street with an adjacent unnamed parcel so that the merged lot would meet frontage requirements; the motion to approve and endorse the plan carried by voice vote.
A proposed project comprising 1 Salem Street and 15 Ferry Street was not formally before the board: staff said it requires variances from the Board of Appeal first, so the board withheld advisory recommendations until that process is complete.
The board accepted its annual report and authorized the chair to sign the document for filing with the city clerk/council. The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:46 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2026.
