First 5 Sacramento honors Rob Reiner at Jan. 12 meeting

The First 5 Sacramento Commission opened Jan. 12 with a formal recognition of Rob Reiner, whom staff and commissioners described as ‘‘the visionary behind Proposition 10’’ and a longtime advocate for young children.
Executive Director Julie Galaylo asked the commission to set aside time to reflect on Reiner’s legacy, saying his work ‘‘brought Rob Reiner to us, and the advocate that he is for young children.’’ Chair Phil Serna and commissioners offered personal recollections. Commissioner Wesley recounted first‑hand experiences working with Reiner during the campaign and described being personally affected by his advocacy for families.
Commissioners and members of the public observed a moment of reflection; Chair Serna later moved to adjourn the Jan. 12 meeting ‘‘in the memory of the late Rob Reiner.’'
