Chris Castleman of Coos County used the public‑comment period to raise concerns about how the county advertises openings to citizen committees. Castleman told the board that when he visits the county website and navigates to departments → board of commissioners → budget committee, "the page is completely blank," and he noted the county news page’s most recent post was from August.
Castleman said that better public notice would have produced more applicants for a recent appointment and said he intends to apply in the future if openings are publicized appropriately. A commissioner agreed Castleman made a valid point and said he will introduce an agenda item in coming weeks to amend the process so budget‑committee appointments go through an interview and approval procedure similar to the fair‑board appointments.
