Kimbrough corrected an earlier figure and said the total cost for the emergency work was $171,400, above the $100,000 threshold that requires board ratification. He showed photos of collapsed pipes and the replaced PVC infrastructure and said crews were repacking excavated material. The work was described as necessary to stop ongoing backups and maintain school operations.
Trustees asked whether the district would inspect other older facilities; Kimbrough said older campuses are more likely to have similar cast-iron issues and that the district can run camera inspections to assess other sites.
Next steps: the district will present the ratification item at the next regular board meeting for formal approval and will pursue inspection of other older campuses as resources permit.
