RHS presents semiquincentennial exhibits and veterans‑history programs to Lexington council

Eric Wilson of RHS told Lexington City Council on Dec. 18 that RHS is participating in the statewide semiquincentennial passport promotion and is coordinating events across jurisdictions to boost tourism and education.
Wilson described the passport program (discounts at participating sites), artifacts on loan that will be used in local commemorations, and planned K–12 outreach. He highlighted an exhibit on free Black Virginians set for late March through May and described oral-history work focused on Vietnam veterans and Lieutenant Commander Charles Parrish, listed as MIA from May 25, 1968. Wilson said the museum will host screenings, book clubs and speaker events in January and throughout 2026 and asked for council and community support for cross-jurisdiction collaboration.
Council thanked Wilson for the presentation and marketing the community’s events. Wilson encouraged residents to ‘stay tuned’ for schedules and noted the museum’s role in partnering with Rockbridge County and Buena Vista for multi-jurisdiction programming.
