Bruce Young, representing the petitioners, said the addition includes an 8‑foot rear extension and a covered 24‑by‑24‑foot roof extension over the driveway to provide shade for an elderly family member. Planning staff reported the lot is about 0.57 acre, inspected the site and recommended approval because similar accessory buildings exist along the South Shore of Pine Lake and the proposed change complies with waterfront view overlay setbacks.
Board member (Speaker 3) moved to approve the variance and Board member (Speaker 4) seconded. The motion passed. The approval allows the owners to proceed with permitting subject to the city’s standard building and shoreline overlay review processes.
