The Public Safety Committee voted unanimously on Jan. 14 to approve a consent package covering items 2–6 and 9–15. Chair Lee asked the city attorney to prepare and present an ordinance adding a new Article 7.1 to Chapter 5 of the municipal code to create a Los Angeles version of the California Wildland‑Urban Interface code adopting provisions of the 2025 code with modifications.
The chair also moved approval of city attorney recommendations on item 3, adoption of motions for items 4 and 5, approval of CAO recommendations for items 6, 9 and 10, acceptance of a donation for item 12, and adoption of draft ordinances for items 13–15. The clerk called roll; council members Lee, Price and Soto Martinez voted in favor and the items were approved as instructed.
Item 7 was called separately at Soto Martinez’s request and was approved in a separate roll call (2 ayes, 1 no); the clerk later noted item 7 will move forward without recommendation due to the vote count. The committee concluded remaining business and adjourned.
Committee remarks around the consent packet included a short description of item 2’s intent to tailor a statewide wildland‑urban‑interface code to local needs; no staff presentation was required for the consent items during the meeting.
