Planning staff presented the commission with a 2026 work program at the Jan. 13 meeting, outlining high, medium and low priority efforts and asking commissioners for feedback on missing items or priorities.
Staff said the growth area master plan is a major ongoing project expected to conclude in 2026 with additional formal presentations to the commission. The short-term rental licensing program, adopted by the city commission, is scheduled to take effect July 1, 2026; staff plans to implement an online application and an outreach campaign prior to that date.
Other priorities include a code enforcement reorganization to distribute administrative duties across departments, a software implementation to support citizen portal reporting and permitting, locating Map Bus transit shelters in coordination with engineering and public works, policy updates for subdivision exactions and infrastructure standards, and a comprehensive code cleanup (a unified development ordinance-style consolidation). Staff also listed lower-priority items such as e-bike and e-scooter policy discussions and a lagoon redevelopment strategy tied to the master plan.
Commissioners had no substantive objections during the item and thanked staff for the overview. Staff invited feedback and said the document is intended to guide the commission's focus and identify opportunities for future action.
