During consideration of the draft report, one commissioner questioned a sentence stating the commission had "reduced overall requirements for parking" in 2025, saying they did not recall broader reductions beyond bicycle parking. Staff responded that amendments reduced multifamily and office requirements, provided greater flexibility and waiver authority based on demonstrated need, and that those changes had been forwarded to council as part of a Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) package that included OS‑4 revisions.
Commissioners agreed to amend the report language to note the parking changes represent an initial step and that the commission intends to continue reviewing parking requirements. The amended motion to adopt the report passed by voice vote. The commission will forward the adopted report to City Council for review.
What happens next: The report will be filed with City Council; additional parking amendments and related ZTAs remain a planning priority for the commission in the coming year, according to commissioners.
