At the start of its Dec. 16 meeting, the Calvert County Board of Commissioners conducted organizational elections and several appointments.
County Administrator Linda Turner called for nominations for president. Commissioner Hart nominated Commissioner Ireland; with no further nominations the board voted by voice and elected Ireland president. Commissioners then nominated Commissioner Cox for vice president and elected him by voice vote.
Staff presented five appointments and reappointments. The board reappointed Dana Jones and Tara Waffley to the Economic Development Authority; reappointed Tim Jervis, Deborah Jacobs and Michael Jordan to the Calvert Marine Museum Board of Governors; appointed Barbara Warner to the Fire & Rescue Commission; reappointed Michael Kent to the Historic District Commission; and reappointed Dale Weems to the Building Board of Calvert County. Each nomination was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; staff said the actions left no vacancies on the listed boards.
The actions were routine organizational business ahead of committee work for 2026.
