Alaska Senate ethics subcommittee corrects record, says it found probable cause in complaint 2401

The Senate select committee on legislative ethics' subcommittee met Nov. 21, 2025, approved its agenda and entered an executive session to discuss matters statutorily required to remain confidential, Chair Joyce Anderson said.
Anderson opened the public session at about 2:40 p.m., asked for a motion to approve the agenda and, after Skip Cook moved to approve it, declared the motion passed. She then asked for a motion to go into executive session, citing AS 24.61.70, uniform rule 22(b), and the committee's rules of procedure as authority to discuss matters that could affect the finances or reputation of a person or governmental unit.
The subcommittee reconvened in public session at about 2:58 p.m. and Anderson said she intended to correct the public record. She read a statement saying the subcommittee had ‘‘deliberated and voted in executive session to find probable cause in Senate complaint 2401’’ at a prior September meeting and that the failure to announce that outcome at the earlier meeting would be corrected in the public record.
Anderson said, "I failed to do that at our September 25 meeting," and the read statement included the text that the subcommittee had failed to announce at the "09/23/2025" meeting that it had deliberated and voted in executive session to find probable cause in the complaint (the transcript contains both date references). She later stated, "So it's 2401," in reference to the complaint number.
No members of the public spoke during the meeting; the chair instructed staff to post a sign at the door before the executive session and confirmed the recorder (Jackie) was operating when the meeting returned to public session. The meeting adjourned at about 2:59 p.m.
The corrective statement read into the record affirms that a majority of the subcommittee voted in executive session on a probable-cause determination; the transcript does not record the deliberations or the vote breakdown held in executive session.
