Staff outlines FY 2026–27 budget calendar and budget‑committee openings

Staff described the budget committee as composed of six councilors and six members of the public with three-year terms and said the city would seek public appointees to fill the openings in time for committee work.
On alternates, councilors suggested adding alternate committee members to ensure quorum when members are absent. Staff cautioned state law does not specify alternates and that creating a formal alternate system likely would require a municipal ordinance; staff said they would research options.
