Acting City Administrator Brandon Swanson and Acting Assistant City Administrator Marissa Bermudez outlined several items the City Council will address next week, describing two full council days and a mix of consent and open-session topics.
Swanson said Monday's agenda will include appointments to two open seats on the library board of trustees and a triannual budget review. He said the council will also consider sending a letter to the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District asking the agency to remove a cease‑and‑desist order that has limited the setting of new water meters.
On Tuesday, Swanson said, council members will see the second readings of the Pickleball Ordinance and the Street Address Ordinance; he described those items as consent items whose Tuesday action will finalize the ordinances. He also said open session will include consideration of a roof material policy that would address alternate roofing materials, an update on the Design Traditions Project, and presentation of the Police Officers Association's memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the next contract cycle.
Swanson and Bermudez encouraged public attendance and participation; they said staff will present materials and that council discussion will determine whether any items require further hearings or amendments. Several agenda items were described as procedural or informational at the briefing; no votes or formal council actions took place during the Jan. 9 staff remarks.
