Egg Harbor Township committee reorganizes leadership, appoints mayor and deputy mayor, introduces three ordinances

Frommer, after taking the oath, said she was "incredibly honored to be the mayor of this town," and asked residents to return to upcoming meetings. The committee moved and approved the appointment through a standard nomination and roll-call vote. Ray Ellis repeated the oath as deputy mayor and pledged to be available to residents, saying he would be reachable by phone.
The committee approved resolution 64 to appoint Jenna Rocco as deputy clerk; Janice Hughes, who earlier took over as clerk from Eileen Tedesco, was recognized by officials. The meeting recorded roll-call votes for the consent calendar (resolutions 16–69, with 64 removed) and resolution 70 authorizing payment of bills; the roll call record shows one member abstained on items 21–23.
Township officials also announced and sworn in new volunteer fire department chiefs, assistant chiefs and fire police across multiple companies and read a short list of board appointments; appointees were asked to raise their right hands and repeat the oath.
Mister Friedman read three ordinances for introduction: Ordinance 1 would authorize exceeding municipal budget appropriation limits and establish a cap bank pursuant to New Jersey statute 48:4-45.14; Ordinance 2 would fix 2026 salaries for employees covered by the PBA collective bargaining unit; and Ordinance 3 would fix 2026 salaries for certain township officials and employees. Public hearings for all three ordinances were set for Feb. 4, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
The meeting closed the public-comment period after no members of the public requested time, approved the Dec. 17, 2025 minutes, received brief committee reports and concluded with a benediction and a musical performance. The committee adjourned after unanimous voice approval of the motion to adjourn.
The committee record lists the motions and roll-call results for tonight's resolutions and introductions; public hearings for the introduced ordinances are scheduled Feb. 4, 2026.
