Council appoints Galen Cassidy to Capital Improvement Board and approves multiple reappointments

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Monroe County Council acknowledged the resignation of Galen Cassidy from the food and beverage tax commission and approved his appointment as the council’s representative to the Capital Improvement Board through Jan. 1, 2027.
Galen Cassidy briefly addressed the council, thanked members for the appointment and said he looks forward to advising the project from his perspective as a downtown small‑business owner. Councilor Iverson moved the appointment; the council approved it by roll call unanimously.
The council also approved a package of citizen reappointments to boards and commissions, including appointments to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, library board of trustees, redevelopment commission, traffic commission, and women’s commission; that motion passed by roll call 7–0.
The council noted the appointment creates a vacancy on the food and beverage commission and encouraged interested, qualified applicants to apply online.
